Talking about the mentions of our degree, the degree in tourism. We know that there are three branches: planning of tourist sites, management of tourism enterprises and, lastly, cultural heritage. Being a fourth year of tourism, I had to choose earlier this year. At first I didn’t know which to choose, as it was between managing tourism businesses or planning tourist spaces. After thinking about it, I decided to choose the tourism planning branch. In the end I chose this one, because in the future I would like to create a tourist company as a hotel or a sustainable rural house and in the natural environment. I would like the company that I create in the future to be sustainable, as this would help to take care of the environment, such as building the rural house with natural products, as well as using renewable energy. I would also like it to be a rural house because nowadays you can do different activities that are in contact with the environment or with nature such as mountain routes, horse riding, climbing or gastronomy-related activities. Finally, I think it was a good choice as I really liked the branch I chose. I have learned many things that I did not know and that will help me in my future. In addition, setting up a business in the natural environment would go a long way towards depopulating villages.

Since I’m still in the second year of my degree in tourism, I think I still have time to think it over. Even so, I think I will choose the branch of management of tourism companies because when I finish the career I would like to continue expanding my knowledge and start the master’s degree in management and tourism companies. In the future I would like to dedicate myself to the management of a hotel or a rural house, or in general, to a tourist accommodation. I know very well that being a good hotel manager is not an easy task, as you have to worry about the good management of the hotel, as well as its staff and the good treatment of the guests. In addition, I would not mind where to work, as I would like to leave Spain so that I can learn more languages and more cultures different from ours. Finally, I think that when the time comes I will choose the branch of management of tourism companies because it is the one I like best. Besides, I think I could be a good manager of any tourist company.
