VOCABULARY: CITY LIFE

slum(barrio bajo): urban street or district inhabited by very poor people

low-income (de bajos ingresos): or belonging to people who earn low wages.

juvenile delinquency (delincuencia juvenil): criminal acts or offences by a young person.

homeless (sin hogar): Person who doesnt have a place to live and sleep.

gangs (pandillas): an organized group of criminals 

crime rate (tasa de criminalidad): number of crimes that are committed during a period of time in a particular place.

residential area (area residencial):  is a land used in which housing predominates, as opposed to industrial and commercial areas.

suburbs (afueras): an outlying district of a city, especially a residential one.

commute (viajar a diario):travel some distance between one's home and place of work on a regular basis. 

traffic jams (atasco): a long line of vehicles on a road have stopped moving or are moving very slowly

green spaces (zona verde): an area of grass andother vegetation set apart for recreational or aesthetic purposes in an otherwise urban environment.

SENSE OF BELONGING (sentido de pertenencia): connectedness to a social or other type of group or a community 

FEEL LEFT OUT (sentirse excluido): tofeelthat one is not included in something  

REACH A COMPROMISE (hacer una promesa): declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified 

GET ALONG WITH (llevarse bien con): When youget along with someone, you're friendly or compatible with them 

SEE EYE TO EYE (estar de acuerdo): be in full agreement. 

PULL MY WEIGHT (hacer tu parte): to do your fair share of work that a group of people is doing together

SHARE (compartir): a part or portion of a larger amount which is divided among a number of people, or to which a number of people contribute.

LEND (prestar): grant to (someone) the use of (something) on the understanding that it will be returned. 

CONSIDERATE (considerado): careful not to inconvenience or harm others. 

IN CHARGE OF (a cargo de): having control of or responsibility for (something) 

WELL-BEING (bienestar):  the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy. 

WILLING TO (complaciente): ready, eager, or prepared to do something.
